With the likes of Gareth Wyn Jones – famous Welsh farmer – and Scott Quinnell – Wales Rugby Legend – we have a great team of brand ambassadors already. (learn about all of ambassadors here!) Who better to join this brilliant team than Welsh singer and actor Wynne Evans?
But you may not know much about his local roots and love for Wales.
Wynne was born and bred in Carmarthen, and has had huge success performing in many operas around the world, including the famous Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. He continues to perform, present, and appear in many shows – on stage, TV, and radio.
and wanted our customers to know him a little more, so we sat down with him and asked him a little more about how he got into his ambassador role here and what he is working on at the moment.
I actually met Colin through another Oil 4 Wales ambassador, Ken Owens! I recently moved and needed a lot of help! In the new house I bought – the boiler was broken, I needed fuel. Ken recommended Oil 4 Wales as the best supplier. Oil 4 Wales mended the boiler, delivered oil; they set up the Apollo Infinity Automatic heating oil top-up service which sends me updates and reminders on when I need more oil. It’s great! I was introduced to the founder, Colin; we just hit off and the ambassadorship just made sense!
Oil 4 Wales as such a community focus. They are genuinely really nice people, I could tell that from the moment I met Colin. It’s also just so nice work with and to be around local people – they’re based in Carmarthen, which is my hometown!
That is hard! Just the culture – there is such a community here in Wales, a strong sense of identity for everyone from this small country. Of course music is something that is hugely important to me, and it’s something that’s an intrinsic part of both my identity and the Welsh identity – it transcends anything else.
My favourite place has to be my place in Llansteffan which is this beautiful little coastal village in Carmarthenshire. It has two pubs, a shop, and beautiful castle. The community there is so strong, friendly, and welcoming and the beach is just 2 minutes away from my place.
Carmarthen also has such a strong place in my heart; it’s where I’m from, and my parents saved a theatre there and founded the Carmarthen Youth Opera at The Lyric Theatre. I also work closely with the local hospice there Ty Cymorth as their Patron, which is also something I am passionate about as they helped my own father so much.
It’s been a really busy time of year! I’m working on some projects with BBC Wales and, of course, I’m still with Go Compare! I’ve recently done lots of, radio and TV projects, but managed to get some family time in with the kids over Christmas.
Of course, just this week I did my first official Oil 4 Wales ambassador event – I hosted their January Christmas party!
I am so excited to do charity events with other Oil 4 Wales ambassadors! There are a few events being planned for the year and they look to be really exciting. What is important to me is being involved in local projects and charities and using my ambassador time for good.
I am pleased to be part of the team and excited for 2020!
